Custom modifications:

Mechanical thumbvalve linkage intact, but Walter Lawson replaced one metal piece in the linkage with a plastic replacement to cut down on the clanking in 1975. Valves were replated by Lawson at the same time. Original bell patched and cut in 1976 by Richard Merewether at Paxman's. Original leadpipe replaced by a Lawson FB 114.125 by Walter Lawson in 1977. Original bell replaced in 1982 with a Holton-Lawson prototype bell, made by Walter Lawson in 1972, and used by Robert Pierce, Principal Horn of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra until his retirement in 1981. Bell cut to accommodate the Paxman ring on the horn. A second bell, a Lawson Ambronze, made in 1980, was fitted to the Paxman ring in 2016, to allow alternate use with the Nickel-Silver Holton-Lawson bell.
