On January 7, [1847] Strong had heard the last and most spectacular of Herz’s series of farewell concerts before his purported return to Europe by way of Havana….Nonoperatic assisting artists were Herr Dorn, now advertised as “First Hornist and Guitarist to the Grand Duke of Baden.” (Herald, January 5, 1847)
