Plans after CVCS: Mahatten College

January 4, 1945 - November 3, 2000

Ray was one of my best friends at CV. If I recall correctly, his family had moved from Canada when he was in fifth grade and my first encounter with him was on the school bus in front of the Port Dick school where we got into a fist fight. We soon became very good friends and I remember his very incisive sense of humor and many talents. I still have the term paper I wrote for Mrs. Holmwood's class for which Ray provided the drawings. Ray had gone far in life and career, and had risen to the postion of Vice President and General Counsel of Quest Diagnostics Incorporated. He passed away in November, 2000 from a heart attack. Individuals are the heart of any great organization, and we owe a great deal to those who provided the early leadership for our company. We were saddened during the year by the passing of two retired leaders who helped establish Quest Diagnostics as an independent entity. We will miss the wisdom and wit of Bob Carothers, our first Chief Financial Officer, and Ray Marier, our first General Counsel.
